Overview

The Liv Tempt E+ 2 is a mountain bike designed for trail riding, offering smooth motor support and confident braking for varied terrain. Its 250W motor with 50Nm torque provides adequate assistance for moderate climbs, though it may feel less punchy on steeper trails. The 500Wh battery offers a reasonable range for short to medium rides, and the quick 3.7-hour charge time, combined with a removable battery, makes it convenient for daily use and storage. While it's a solid choice for casual trail riding, its lower power-to-weight ratio and limited battery capacity mean it's better suited for shorter trips rather than long-distance adventures.

Best For

✓

This mountain e-bike should suit trail riders who need a balance of comfort, control and practicality for off-road riding. Its hydraulic disc brakes and responsive torque sensor make it a confident choice for technical trails, while the removable battery adds flexibility for charging on the go. Riders who prioritize a comfortable ride over rough terrain and appreciate a bike that offers good value for money will likely find this model appealing.

Who Should Avoid It

×

Riders seeking maximum range or stronger hill-climbing performance may be better served by comparing alternatives. The battery capacity and motor power are below average for similar mountain e-bikes, which could limit endurance on longer trails or steep inclines. Riders prioritizing a more responsive motor punch may also find stronger options in the same category. However, the bike still offers good braking confidence and a removable battery, which may suit riders who value flexibility and controlled assistance on moderate trails.

This mountain e-bike offers legal-style pedal assist with a more modest level of climbing support compared to some trail-focused rivals, making it better suited for moderate trails than extremely steep ascents. Next to similar models, it provides a balanced and predictable assistance feel, though some e-bikes may feel more lively or punchy for its weight. The torque and cadence sensor should help maintain a natural response, especially on technical terrain, but riders may find steeper climbs require more effort. The motor setup is likely to suit those looking for a lightweight mountain e-bike that prioritizes trail control and everyday usability over maximum power output.

This explanation is based on the bike’s motor power, torque, battery capacity, claimed range, charging time, sensor type and how those figures compare with similar e-bikes in our database.

eBike FAQs

Is this bike suitable for long off-road rides?

The Liv Tempt E+ 2 is a mountain bike with a 250W motor and 50Nm torque, which provides adequate assistance for moderate off-road trails but may struggle on steeper or more technical terrain. Its 500Wh battery offers a range of around 40 miles, which is suitable for shorter off-road rides but may require frequent recharging for longer adventures. The hydraulic disc brakes should offer confident stopping power on rough terrain, making it a good option for casual trail riding rather than extended off-road excursions.

How does the motor perform when climbing steep trails?

The motor provides smooth support for moderate climbs but may struggle on very steep trails. With 250W of motor power and 50Nm of torque, it's below average for similar mountain e-bikes, which means you might need to pedal harder on steep inclines. The torque and cadence sensor helps optimize power delivery, but riders looking for strong hill-climbing performance may want to consider a bike with higher motor power and torque.

Does the battery last long enough for a full day of mountain biking?

The battery range of 40 miles is below average for similar mountain e-bikes, which may limit a full day of riding on rough terrain. However, the removable battery makes it easier to charge during the day if needed. For longer rides, you may need to plan for additional charging or consider a bike with a higher capacity battery.

Is this bike good value for money compared to similar e-bikes?

This bike offers good value for money compared to similar e-bikes, especially considering its price is favourable in the market. While it has a lower power-to-weight ratio and battery capacity than some competitors, these limitations are balanced by the useful removable battery and reliable hydraulic disc brakes, which contribute to its overall affordability. It should be a solid choice for riders who prioritize cost-effectiveness without needing the highest levels of power or range.

How does the braking system handle rough terrain and high speeds?

The hydraulic disc brakes on the Liv Tempt E+ 2 should provide confident stopping power, which is important when riding at higher speeds or on rough terrain. These brakes are generally reliable in varied conditions, though performance may depend on maintenance and tire grip. The front suspension and wide tires also help with control, making the bike well-suited for trail riding.

Is the motor powerful enough for technical mountain trails?

The motor may struggle on very technical mountain trails with steep climbs or rough terrain. With 250W of motor power and 50Nm of torque, it provides smooth support for moderate trails but may lack the punch needed for more demanding climbs. If you're riding primarily on less intense trails, this bike should handle well, but for technical mountain biking, you might want to consider a bike with higher motor power and torque.

How easy is it to charge and maintain the battery?

The battery is removable, which makes charging and maintenance more convenient, especially if you need to charge it away from home. However, the battery capacity is below average for similar mountain e-bikes, which means you may need to charge it more frequently on longer rides. The charging time is also below average, so it should still be reasonably quick to get back on the trail after a charge.

Who is this bike best suited for in terms of riding style and experience?

This bike is best suited for riders who enjoy moderate mountain biking on trails that aren't overly technical or steep. It offers adequate support for climbing and handling rough terrain, but its lower torque and motor power may make steeper or more demanding trails challenging. The bike is a good fit for those looking for a reliable, value-oriented mountain e-bike that can handle typical off-road conditions without requiring high-end performance features.
